About
Who we are
Mystic Farms is a dynamic duo housing both an onsite wholesale distribution center as well as an onsite seasonal retail shop. Our wholesale production center is home to 12 greenhouses for our products to flourish. Our home grown staff are equipped with nearly 50 years of combined expertise in all things perennial and annual.
What we do
On any given day, our collective team of 5-7 cultivators plant, maintain, organize and distribute several thousand seedlings that our customers will cherish and nurture into full adult plants.
Company History
Mystic Farms came to be in the spring of 1994. Owners and founders Mary & Thomas Pariseau founded the farm out of a deep rooted love for all things fragile and beautiful. For Tom, this was a industry he had a large history with.
During the late 1950’s, Tom worked on Ceisel’s Flower Farm, one of three flower farms in the entire capital district. Working there at 13 years of age, Tom met Billy. The two boys despised each other instantly, yet they both shared a bond over their love for flowers. It was not until the early 90’s, after Ceisel’s Farm closed, that the pair rekindled their connection over auctioned farming equipment. Tom, a laborer, and Billy, a farm hand at Ceisel’s, now both without a job, were at a crossroads in their lives. It was in this near missed connection that Tom decided to create a farm of his own in an attempt to recreate the feeling of planting he once had at his first job many years ago.
Mystic Farms, the creation of which we know today, has had nearly 25 seasons. Breaking ground was one labor of love, a painstaking one at that. Tom, being a family man, knew having a farm would give his wife many years of joy, to which scale he could never have fathomed. It was the pair that came together to decide on the name Mystic Farms. We would like to think that it came from something meaningful, but the name just stuck one afternoon when the two were driving and saw a street sign titled Mystic and they knew it was the one.
Today, Billy has been the sole Farm manager working year round to keep productions up to par and growing consistent. He is the one to thank for our seeds turning into seedlings and for our flowers reaching peak perfection. Mary, before passing in early 2015, was the sole workforce driving the farms retail shop. Many knew her as the face of the farm, offering those her wealth of knowledge and each customer a smile.
